Hon. Bio.
My honours research is focused on the level of relatedness in North Atlantic right whales in non-reproductive surface-active groups, investigating whether these groups have any purposes beyond reproduction. The aim of this is to help provide a better understanding of North Atlantic right whale behaviour and biology that will hopefully aid conservation efforts in the future. I’m a fourth-year honours student at Saint Mary’s University pursuing a Biology degree with a certificate in Forensic Science and most of my academic interests revolve around marine mammal conservation, especially the effects epigenetic factors have on populations of endangered marine mammals. I’m also interested in how laws regarding conservation are enforced and how effective they are.
